The objective of this position is to achieve year-on-year improvement in total cost, quality, and service for a portfolio of high volume, transaction global commodities. The Commodity manager in this space will assist a Sourcing Manager and be responsible for annual spend of approx. $100 million. The commodity under management is Engineering Services inclusive of design, development, testing, and certification.
The Commodity Manager role is accountable for execution and implementation of the sourcing and supplier management strategies utilizing cross-functional strategic sourcing teams (made up of Commodity Project Managers, Purchasing Managers, Engineers, Operations Managers, Quality Managers and Marketing Managers). The manager will facilitate activities focusing on the localization strategies of our global supply base.
The position will require close working relationships with Senior Management, functional leaders, and technical professionals specifically in Engineering Services.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading/participating in the development of sourcing strategies.
Managing implementation of sourcing strategies;
Managing strategic interaction with key suppliers;
Measuring/tracking internal performance within each spend category and defining budgetary impact;
Monitoring strategy implementation, contract compliance and customer satisfaction;
Developing an understanding of assigned leverage categories.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or Engineering.
Strong team leader/contributor, comfortable in leading cross functional and multi-cultural teams
Basic knowledge of indirect commodities (e.g. Contract Labor, Professional Services, Consulting, IT, etc.)
High energy, driven and enthusiastic about opportunities to establish new approaches to reduce TCO
Possess a knowledge in strategic sourcing, supply-chain, manufacturing and operational procurement
Exceptional problem solving and project management skills
Ability to work independently and in a matrix environment
Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
Proficient in dealing with language and cultural barriers
Excellent knowledge in data architecture and management
Strong project management and quantitative skills
