The Senior Field Support Engineer serves as a primary contact for Rockwell Automation's customers. They are focused on improving customer relationships by resolving commercial and technical issues. The Senior Field Support Engineer works on a variety of commercial and technical issues both independently and with a team.
Other activities of the Senior Field Support Engineer include, but are not limited to:
Serve as company liaison to the customer for multiple topics.
Help to create and maintain an environment conducive to successful team interaction and customer satisfaction.
Provide leadership for project engineering teams, contract employees, and project support personnel.
Provide project and site management support including management of project activities such as scheduling, budgeting and managing human resources deployed to the project.
Consultation regarding the application of products, technologies, manufacturing processes and industry-specific applications.
Product and system start-up, system integration support, and production optimization.
Identification and correction of hardware failures, firmware problems and programming deficiencies, and the implementation of hardware/firmware updates and upgrades.
Instruction/training of customers on proper use, operation and maintenance.
Technical assistance for sales presentations to customers. This may include product demonstrations at Rockwell Automation sales offices or customer's facilities.
Develop and write documentation as required (validation project plans, standard operating procedures, qualification summary reports, system audits, technical reports, traceability matrix, etc.).
Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies and procedures as appropriate for this position.
On-call emergency service support and troubleshooting assistance (24X7).
Travel to work sites remote from the service engineer's field office city location will also be required. (Work assignments at remote locations may be for extended periods of time.)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent years of experience, with a minimum of eight (8) additional years of directly related experience. OR Associate's Degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent years of experience, with a minimum of ten (10) additional years of directly related experience
- Minimum of 8 years experience with Rockwell Automation products and/or work experience (PLC, HMI, Drives experience)
- Advanced project system design/startup and troubleshooting experience
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time within the assigned territory
