The Software Team Lead participates in the software design activities for motion control features in an automation controller, while also supervising a small team of 5-7 developers. Typically, about 75% of the work is technical and 25% is managerial. The technical work assignments include requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, and functional testing of firmware/software in an agile development process. The managerial work assignments include technical guidance for team members, performance management, resource planning, employee development, as well as the hiring and on-boarding of new developers.
This role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, high proficiency in planning and organizing, a process mindset, and a demonstrated ability to lead others. This is a great opportunity for an experienced lead developer to explore people management on a small scale.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
At least 8 years of experience in firmware and/or software design, preferably using C++ or C# and object-oriented design methods
At least 5 years of experience with the development of automation controller firmware and/or PC-based configuration software for automation controllers or similar technology.
Strong understanding of software development processes and principles, as well as experience in process improvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting and communicating on behalf of a team
Demonstrated leadership abilities, including collaboration and influencing skills across cross-functional boundaries or multiple locations
Familiarity with COM, MFC, WPF, .NET, or equivalent technologies
Experience designing real-time embedded software systems
Knowledge of servo drives, motion control systems, and servo motors
Experience applying Agile processes in software development.
