BASF Corporation is seeking a Mining Chemicals Technical Specialist to be based out of our laboratory and office in Tucson, Arizona. Position is technical in nature; involved in significant laboratory work and require travel to mine sites to support the sales team on technical trials at these sites across North America. Provide technical support to the North America mining industry on the application of BASF products for use in thickeners, pressing, and agglomeration mining technologies. Support Sales in the roll-out of new rheology improvement technologies throughout the North American market to expand the company's customer base, resolve application issues, and provide expert technical guidance to clients, through BASF Sales Resources, regarding rheology improvement technology and related products. Support sales by providing technical service to internal and external customers. Run laboratory tests, pilot and site trials, and support Sales in discussion of results with customers. Apply experience with MSHA, WHIMS, and other related regulatory requirements. Identify potential areas of improvement within the alumina, iron ore, coal, and base metal industries. Develop technical improvements by optimizing tailings and mining ore applications throughout the NA region. Develop training for Sales personnel and distribution to conduct basic laboratory and field work for test work and trials, and provide training to relevant BASF personnel on the application of the products. Develop and present technical papers as required to internal staff, at conferences or in support of the sales group at customer sites. Prepare project proposals, including planning and application work, and present conclusions in verbal and written forms. Up to 50% travel required within the North American region.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Qualified applicants will have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Hydrometallurgy, or related discipline, and 2 years of experience with chemical treatment of solids/liquid separation processes related to mining field and lab work. Will also accept a Bachelor's degree in these field and 5 years of experience. Must have experience in all manners of solid liquid separation techniques including oilsands tailings treatment, and iron pelletizing techniques, and must have experience performing standard tests related to these techniques. Up to 50% travel required within the North American region.
