SUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Project Quality Engineer has the responsibility for Quality Control/Assurance activities for the Medium Voltage Starters and Drives business. The position will interact with internal cross functional teams including Design, Marketing, Manufacturing, Chemistry and Material Lab, Test Labs, Supplier Quality, Suppliers, as well as the external customers related to the quality of the products. The scope of support is global and the position serves as a Quality Representative in customer quality activities (Analysis Reports, Warranty Analysis). Travel may be required up to 15% of the time. All activities and decision making must meet the quality requirements communicated by the company policies and procedures, customer expectations and requirements, and appropriate governmental agencies, such as ISO regulations.
Act as a quality resource to other departments to address and resolve inquiries and issues that may arise both internally and externally
Support quality investigations in the production environment
Investigate and resolve customer quality issues
Interface with customers on field complaints, up to and including travel to customer site to view product issues.
Achieve quality goals and improve quality metrics
Responsible for continuous improvement of focus products as well as overall product quality improvements.
Sustain and improve customer experience via quality products and issue resolution
Perform and coordinate the root cause failure analysis using effective quality engineering tools and systems such as 8D (Eight Disciplines) to identify product quality issues and effectively communicate resolution to RA Field personnel, customers, internal stakeholders, and other resources as appropriate
Work with cross-functional team for support and/or drive continuous improvements to improve product Quality and Reliability
Participate in Kaizen initiatives, driving continuous process improvement actions
Provide feedback on quality concerns to Supplier and Operations Quality and Engineering teams
Lead troubleshooting activities for non-conforming product returns to identify failure modes, root cause, and corrective action
Develop plans and conduct tests to evaluate modifications to existing products
Define and publish the quality plan and its execution in new product introduction activities, adhering to Rockwell's product development process
Provide input and oversight in the engineering change management process
Own quality activities defined through technical support service tickets, through resolution and closure
- A minimum of 8 years' experience with power conversion equipment (Medium Voltage preferred), spanning product commissioning, application engineering and solutions, test engineering, quality engineering, and/or manufacturing.
- Must be able to work within a global matrix organization comprised of multi-cultural and cross-functional teams.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must show thorough knowledge and application of quality tools (e.g. 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, DOE).
Must be skilled in data collection and analysis.
Must be proficient in Microsoft applications.
