Where the Chemistry Happens
BASF Corporation operates two production units in Bishop, Texas. The processes utilize both batch and continuous operations. We are seeking a Work Group Lead (WGL) that has both operational, technical, and leadership experience.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of strong safety and environmental performance. The role involves leading the shift in additional to performing operational duties. Examples of operational duties include ; operating the DCS, issuing permits, sampling, troubleshooting, preparing equipment for maintenance and subsequent operation, and inspections.
The Work Group Lead will be responsible for long term team development, performance management, and daily tactical goal setting. The WGL will work with the 3 other WGL's to optimize and standardize work practices across all four shifts. The WGL will proactively support the development of the Site Safety, Environmental, and Quality cultures.
The Work Group Lead will have experience with relevant batch and continuous unit operations. Examples include; distillation, batch reaction, crystallization, filtration, drying, and the operation of utility systems. Experience operating a Distributive Control system (DCS) is required. The use of data analysis and trending tools (example, PI) is required. The WGL will be skilled at trouble-shooting operational issues and developing resolutions including the generation of detailed work notifications for the maintenance team.
The Work Group Lead will be trained and proficient in the execution of operational permits including, but not limited to, confined space entry, hot work, and lock out / tag out. The WGL must be capable of developing, reviewing, and executing Work Safety Checklists, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Energy Isolation Plans (EIP's). The WGL will have experience using a Management of Change process.

At least 3 years in a senior operational role with some prior leadership experience
