Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking an Instrument and Electrical Design Manager to serve as the discipline expert directly responsible for the management of the instrument, electrical, and automation design services for the Freeport Site. Along with the rest of the engineering leadership team, this position drives overall capital performance for Site Engineering.

You will be responsible for the design efforts performed by outside engineering firms: 1) providing technical leadership to I/E discipline engineers and designers to ensure quality, innovation, coaching, mentoring, and career development, 2) provides high level technical support for various maintenance, reliability, TRC, and site initiatives, and 3) ensures overall effectiveness and efficiency of the site design engineering services.
Formula for Success: You Will
Drive a safety culture in the Technical Site Services (TSS) I&E design team and on the Freeport site by living the Freeport TSS Vision - The Premier Partner with Manufacturing through collaboration, innovation, and developing people!
Manage team members for quality, cost, and schedule compliance for TSS executed and monitored capital projects by maintaining the awareness and supervision of projects to ensure BASF's best interests are maintained.
Provide coaching and learning opportunities through active listening for the TSS I&E design team members in their efforts to further their career development and improve the skills of the individual and team.
Drive sustainable, innovative solutions to opportunities within the Freeport capital work process to further improve the services provided in the TSS I&E design team further increasing the efficiency and predictability of capital projects.
Provide expertise and consulting to the Freeport site in the areas of instrument, automation, safety instrumented systems, & electrical power, specifically, the execution of capital projects to further the BASF goal of sustainable, profitable growth.
Manage the relationship of engineering partners to further improve their services on capital projects to maintain project efficiency during dynamic capital planning.
Represent the Freeport site on NA and global I&E specific initiatives implemented by the Technical Expertise and Technical Rules Committee organizations.
Participate or lead other special projects or initiatives, related to the Site or Function groups, as requested.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineer or an other related engineering discipline
Minimum 8+ years of engineering experience in a chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing environment required
Proven supervisory, team leadership, and/or human relations skills required
In-depth knowledge of electrical and instrument discipline engineering as applied to the design and construction of capital projects
Prior experience as a subject matter expert in either instrument, electrical or automation engineering
Working knowledge of capital purchasing and accounting practices, I/E discipline cost engineering, and engineering contracting
Working knowledge of CAD/CAE systems and management practices for controlling technical documentation
Working knowledge of the site master planning and infrastructure documentation typical for a large integrated chemical Manufacturing facility

This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
