The Senior HR Representative / HR Business Partner acts as a strategic partner to the business embedding corporate HR strategy into day-to-day work providing HR guidance and support to relevant internal client groups with the objective of adding value to the business.
This position partners with the Vice President, Engineering for the Power Control Business to implement people related strategies in support of business goals. The function supports leaders and employees in Canada, the US, as well as geographies in Europe and Asia Pacific.
The Senior HR Representative / HR Business Partner reports to the HR Director and leads key HR processes such as talent acquisition, talent management, leadership development, succession planning, performance management, change management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and focuses on enabling our culture of inclusion and engagement through the leadership team.
Talent and Development and Personal Leadership:
Facilitates a strong leadership and coaching culture
Adept at managing through difficult conversations; coaching employees and managers through difficult situations
Supports line managers in planning their talent pipeline requirements through the technical talent and leadership review processes
Partners with leaders and talent acquisition on the recruitment of talent. Actively participates in the assessment of candidates for key leadership positions
Aligns business needs to corporate training and development offerings and programs
Assists business unit leaders in creating development plans and aligning development with succession planning needs
Solicits and understands the employee experience and partners with leaders to address or anticipate their needs and concerns
Manages specific projects as determined by annual HR and business goals, and contributes to functional and cross-functional initiatives
Recognizes trends and develop recommendations based on both qualitative and quantitative data
Leads and manages change
Identifies and drives the sharing of best practices across functions to facilitate continuous improvement
Maintains knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends
Provides ongoing support to managers with employee relations, counseling and PIPs, employee development and corrective action issues; conducts exit interviews
Manages compensation administration to ensure we execute on pay for performance strategies
In conjunction with the Ombudsman, investigates formal employee complaints and makes recommendation for company's response/action
Assists with and facilitates Affirmative Action Plan compliance activities
Actively contributes to and participates in Employee Engagement & Culture of Inclusion sub-teams
Partners with appropriate colleagues to ensure internship recruiting and engineering summer intern programs are effective and meet long term organizational staffing needs.
Answers policy and process questions to managers and employees directly as required (People Policy, FMLA, Disability, Leave of Absence, Reduction in Force, etc.).
Partners with global mobility on immigration matters
Leads special projects and other initiatives as needed
Accepts HR administration (SAP transactions, job postings, etc.) as necessary aspect of the HR delivery model
- BA or BS degree in business, human resources or related field. MBA or Masters in Human Resources preferred.
- In lieu of a bachelor's degree, will consider 15+ years of related HR and business experience with an Associate's Degree.
- Minimum of 8 years related experience. Solid knowledge of the full range of HR functional areas, including talent management, compensation and benefits, succession planning, leadership review and organizational development.
- Accepts travel requirements primarily U.S. domestic and Canada (~ 15%)
Experience in a global matrixed organization preferred
Experience with HR module of SAP.
Effective team player and networker
Strong interpersonal, communication, and service orientation skills
Significant knowledge of HR policies, processes (e.g., workforce planning and talent management), and talent management practices
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Previous experience working for a software/technology company
Experience evaluating program effectiveness, proposing, creating and executing process improvements.
Experience working autonomously with a remote employee base
Ability to sort through complex issues and conduct comparative analysis of multiple solutions.
Demonstrated strong project management skills
