We have a great opportunity for a Reliability Engineer, Technical Expertise, to join our team and, within the Technical Expertise group, provide support for BASF Corporation sites in North America, and contributes to global improvements as part of the global BASF Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) Support Services community.
Reliability Engineer, Technical Expertise (17001194)
You will provide on-site and virtual support for addressing Reliability issues, and will provide capital project Reliability input and support, primarily in a designated Regional Service Center (RSC) area but possibly at any BASF North America location. Your role also includes leading regionally, and for certain topics globally, the development of strategies, programs and processes to improve and ensure plant equipment Reliability. You will also develop, maintain and deliver Reliability process training materials.
Formula for Success: You Will
- Drive reliability improvements in the assigned Regional Service Center (RSC) area, to include participating in or leading status assessments, implementation consultations, training / coaching, program rollout, and follow up support for optimization and sustainability.
- Provide expert support for individual plant system / equipment Reliability issues as across assigned areas within the NA region, and on occasions globally, as in critical equipment failure recovery activities, major equipment inspections / overhauls, and equipment failure analysis.
- Lead and drive the optimization of Reliability strategies, tools, and work processes for BASF Corporation in North America, to reduce costs and production losses due to Reliability. This includes identification and prioritization of high level opportunities across the BASF Corp landscape of sites, as well as the implementation of agreed solutions / improvements.
- Collaborate with related units of BASF Engineering & Maintenance globally, to align the development of work processes, procedures, methodologies, tools and best practices, as well as participates in global teams for creation, improvement or monitoring of Reliability strategies, programs and processes.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline.
Minimum 7 plus years of industrial experience leading Maintenance or Reliability programs, with at least 5 years of experience in Maintenance process implementation and improvement.
Chemical plant experience with Maintenance optimization, work process improvements, and key performance indicators.
In-depth understanding of best industry practices regarding Maintenance and Reliability activities and work processes, required, which includes appropriate Maintenance tools to drive improvements, optimize costs, and improve efficiency (i.e., work planning, work scheduling, parts kitting, wrench time analysis, Lean tool application, etc.)
Familiar with applicable industry codes and standards.
Strong influencing and collaborative skills, and the ability to work in a virtual environment with minimum supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate with all organizational levels within sites, business groups, manufacturing community, and the Engineering & Maintenance organization.
SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience.
Strong computer skills.
This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.
