Sr. Process Safety Engineer (1903123) - Southfield, MI Where the Chemistry Happens We are seeking a professional like you to join BASF Coatings Solutions (ECN). In this role, you will be responsible to set the direction, lead implementation and ensure compliance with BASF and regulatory process safety requirements. In this role, you will serve as the Process Safety expert for EC Coatings NA manufacturing and laboratory facilities as well as coordinate alignment with EC global to ensure all required process safety requirements are effectively implemented and maintained. This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your instrumentation familiarity (lab and field), your skills to review/develop safety standards, and strong ability to collaborate, influence, and drive for results. Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certifications is a plus. * As a trusted advisor to site leadership, you will provide the EC sites and Manufacturing Leadership with regular reports on the Process Safety status of the sites and current PSM related issues.
* Successfully engaging across multiple sites and globally, you will collaborate with the BASF Process Safety Center of Expertise and support organizations to keep EC sites current on any changes to Process Safety regulations.
* Utilizing your experience in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), you will p articipate in and provide process safety technical expertise for process hazard analyses (PHA's), capital project reviews, EHS reviews and other projects assigned.
* Working as a subject matter expert, you will serve as the Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations expert for the EC Americas sites and act as the lead/support during any Process Safety/Responsible Care regulatory audit. You will also develop and/or conduct PSM training for the EC sites as applicable.
* Your experience with Management of Change (MOC) process will be a valued asset as you develop/implement/monitor the PSM Roadmap for each Unit to ensure a standardized process for demonstrating compliance.
* Leveraging your educational background in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field, combined with your experience implementing Process Safety Management program elements in chemical plant operations (including reaction chemistry), you will coordinate implementation of BASF Process Safety advisories and provide support for all sites on PSM Elements, including the development and management process safety information.
* Your continuous improvement mindset will be essential in identifying Lean opportunities and supporting implementation of Lean projects.
* Collaborating globally and across the region, you will maintain strong knowledge of EC global manufacturing safety concepts and in coordination with EC/X, assure consistent interpretation and application of safeguards.
* Following up diligently, you will ensure that process safety hazards are identified, and risks are appropriately assessed, communicated to stakeholders, solutions provide, and commitments made are tracked to completion. Additionally, you will use your skills to t rack Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) revalidations; this will be required to make reports to the site leadership on PHA revalidation compliance.
