Department Overview


The APAC Controllers team is responsible for all entities in the Asia Pacific region to ensure among others the accuracy and completeness of its accounting and general ledger, timely and accurate local/US regulatory and financial reporting, adherence with regulatory requirements, management of audits and other quality assurance activities, and generally maintaining strong controls and governance for international businesses.

About the Role


The APAC Controllers are seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Reporting Data Analyst with a strong accounting and technology background to join our Local Regulatory Reporting team. This team supports the Wells Fargo Offices across Asia to develop, implement and support the ongoing maintenance of highly automated reporting to the local regulators in each jurisdiction. This position requires both accounting expertise and systems/data experience to act as bridge between Finance/Controllers and Technology. The position involves creating business requirements and testing the system enhancements for both the centralized data warehouse and the local regulatory reporting tool. The position requires data mining experience to map key data elements from the multiple systems of records to the jurisdiction specific regulatory reports. The position will provide support to ensure the successful implementation of automated reporting solutions and make certain that Wells Fargo remains in compliance with local jurisdiction reporting requirements.

Responsibilities


Key responsibilities but not limited to:
  • Collaborate with Controllers and Business Finance in relevant offices to define reporting requirements and identify system gaps
  • Partner with Technology teams in APAC and the US to identify and source required data elements for local reporting, and assist in troubleshooting identified issues
  • Design and implement the data mapping and transformation process from the data warehouse to the local regulatory reporting tool.
  • Propose and implement data model changes in collaboration with Technology teams to meet reporting needs.
  • Design, test, and integrate new products and new systems of record into the reporting data flow.
  • Document core processes and controls used across the local regulatory reporting function.
  • Maintain data documentation, including mapping documents and transformation rules.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvement and lead the implementation.


Market Skills and Certifications


Essential Qualifications


  • Qualified CA/CFA/ICWA/MBA-Finance with 5-7 years of experience in Finance & Accounting
  • Candidates should also have experience in the following
    • Business analysis
    • Technical analysis
  • Ability to successfully operate in a complex and matrixed environment
  • Highly refined and professional verbal and written communications
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to synthesize complex analytical findings into clear and concise communications
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong research and documentation skills
  • Experience using SQL for data transformation

Desired Qualifications


  • Experience in the following to automate reporting tool
    • Data Analytics
    • Test Coordinator
    • Project Management
  • Experience working with FRS or Riking
  • Ability to turn business knowledge into technical specifications
  • Financial reporting/regulatory reporting
  • Multi-currency experience
  • Intermediate data mining skills
