The Controllers Division delivers subject matter expertise, counsel, governance, and oversight for all Wells Fargo controllership activities to the business units and staff groups. The division includes the following functional areas: Accounting Business Unit Support, Accounting Operations, Accounting Policy, Enterprise Controls & Oversight, Enterprise Financial Reporting, Supply Chain Management, and Corporate Tax. Corporate Tax, part of Wells Fargo Enterprise Finance, is seeking a Tax Manager 5 who will be responsible for all global aspects of U.S. GAAP accounting for income taxes for Wells Fargo including both the financial statement and regulatory reporting impacts. This individual will lead a team that is responsible for developing and implementing proper controls around the financial reporting compilation and analysis of information related to U.S. federal, state and non-U.S. income tax matters. Expert knowledge of global income taxation and accounting for income taxes under ASC 740 is required. This role requires discipline and the ability to positively influence processes, policies and procedures consistent with corporate values. The position will provide senior level review of significant income tax matters, consultation on income tax conclusions and operational matters, and management of the ASC 740 team. The roles scope includes the ability to independently evaluate issues and apply sound business judgment with minimal oversight, to make timely and sound decisions often under conditions of uncertainty, to manage a team of tax professionals and provide functional advice, to provide direction and/or training, to establish operational objectives and assignments, and to delegate assignments to and supervise the work of subordinates. The role will also be in charge of overseeing monthly and quarterly close processing, reviewing detailed system updates and changes, overseeing the income tax provision application to ensure it is functioning properly and signing off on monthly income tax provision work papers. Specifically you will: - Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
- Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of corporate income tax experience
- 6+ years of management experience
Desired Qualifications
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles: public accounting in the financial services industry
- An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Knowledge and understanding of audit and regulatory compliance
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Other Desired Qualifications
- Extensive expereince accounting for income taxes under ASC 740
- Significant experience with multinational and multistate companies
- High degree of initiative and strong ability to meet key responsibilities with limited direction and oversight
