Position Summary

The commercial engineer position is a consulting role within Global Sales and Marketing that provides technical assistance and tools to Rockwell Automation sales staff, partners and customers. This person is responsible for supporting the Rockwell Automation sales team with pre-sales technical consulting which includes proof of concepts, system architecture reviews and recommendations, customer visits, and the creation of application notes and white papers. The individual will be responsible to support commercial opportunities utilizing appropriate resources in support of many fast paced, diverse, and challenging projects. The individual will need to demonstrate an aptitude and ability to communicate and share technical information with others. A Commercial Engineer is an application expert in an assigned group of products/technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Develops strategic solutions to address real-world customer automation problems including direct technical customer interaction.
• Prepare technical materials, presentations and tools to improve sales force effectiveness
• Serve as a Rockwell Automation technical representative internally for product development and externally to industry associations and standards committees
• Interact with multiple businesses, peers, sales and marketing, and will be expected to cultivate these relationships
• The individual could be required to travel globally, up to 25%, in support of Rockwell Automation goals and objectives such as customer visits, training and tradeshows
