We are seeking a Pilot Plant Operations Coordinator to work in the Dispersions & Pigments (ED) business unit as part of our Wyandotte, MI site. As part of EDN/T R&D, The Wyandotte Process Development team conducts scale up of new products from laboratory to full scale production to meet the innovation needs of our business. The pilot plant is used to conduct the scale up experimentation and sample generation necessary to launch these new products to meet our customers' needs. Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent Formula for Success - Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or 5 years relevent experince
- Leading the team of technicians who operate the pilot plant equipment
- Scheduling people and equipment to meet the experimental needs of the Process Development Engineers.
- Day-to-day troubleshooting of equipment to ensure operation
- Manage Technician Training Program in collaboration with unit LDC
- Manage raw material inventory in collaboration with Supply chain planner
- Ensure full implementation of Safety Program, Preventive Maintenance program, SOP, Promoting 5S environment.
- Collaborate with other unit coordinators in the areas of safety, scheduling, utilities.
- Continuous improvement of operations in collaboration with Process Development Engineers including on-going digitization.
- Schedules the operation of the pilot plant equipment. Maintains a transparent schedule. Develops and executes daily operating plans.
- Prioritize equipment repairs and timely equipment preparation for maintenance. Works with Process Development Engineers and Maintenance department.
- Leads a team of pilot plant technicians. Manages Technician Training program.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement in efficiency, cost, safety in pilot plant equipment and operation.
- Ensures all is in place for ongoing production (equipment, raw materials, people).
- Participates in the safety programs shared by all the groups within the Chemical Engineering Research Unit.
