Where the Chemistry Happens... Senior Quality Inspector - Huntsvile, AL - 2003025 At the BASF Huntsville Plant, we make the chemistry and technology used in vehicle catalytic convertors and other environmental products. As part of our team, employees help make our world's environment cleaner. Our Quality Control Department plays a vital role in the success of our plant. This position contributes by coordinating of shipment priorities to ensure product completion, conformance to customer specifications, timely delivery and proper documentation within SAP/warehouse management systems. This position also evaluates compliance with appropriate specifications and provides in plant technical support in terms of product/process quality, including the use of statistical process control techniques. Principal Responsibilities * Performs lot sampling including physical testing and visual testing. * Performs incoming, in-processing, and final shipping inspections per customer specifications. * Pulls representative samples based on established and approved sampling plans. * Inspect and/or measure quality parameters via approved measurement techniques including CMM, calipers, pressure drop, etc. * Create and maintain files for inspection reports, nonconforming materials reports, product waivers, and corrective action reports. * Serves as a contact for internal auditing process and help develop corrective actions related to team quality systems. * Writes, reads and understands technical documentation including policies, procedures, specifications and drawings. * Fully participates in all team activities including all team meetings, corrective actions, continuous improvement, problem solving, statistical evaluations and special projects. * Utilizes personal skills and technical abilities to contribute to team and process performance as measured by team and process metrics. * Set ups, plots and maintains basic SPC charts as required by customers. * Accurately records and reports data from analysis. * Coordinates work activities through use of processing and shipping forecasts. * Performs all work activities using established safe work practices and follow all plant safety rules. * Maintains a clean working environment. Work environment/Physical demands * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. * The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; as well as talk and hear. * The employee is regularly required to document test results via hand written and keyboard entries. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25pounds. Any part that weights more than 25 pounds needs to be lifted by a manipulator or the buddy system. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May be required to work mandatory overtime The use of personal protection equipment is required such as hearing protection, safety glasses and protective gloves. Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent Ingredients for Success: What We Look For In You...
