Position Summary

The Vice President – Investments will participate in all aspects of RCP’s investment process, with a focus on underwriting secondary and co-investment opportunities in the Lower Middle Market Buyout space.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Serve as integral member of the Investment Team, which as deal quarterback provides significant exposure to senior investment professionals within RCP and the broader private equity industry
  • Underwrite secondary investment opportunities, including top down and bottoms up LBO valuation models for baskets of operating companies
  • Diligence and execute co-investment transactions, which will entail all aspects of directly investing into the cap table of on operating company, including meeting management teams, assessing industry attractiveness and working with Associates to create detailed LBO valuation models
  • Meet with fund managers as it relates to secondary, co-investment and primary investment opportunities
  • Prepare investment memos and co-lead RCP investment committee discussions on secondary and co-investment opportunities
  • Develop relationships with General Partners to provide sourcing opportunities for RCP products
  • Provide scale and bandwidth to Principals and Partners on Investment Team
    Train and mentor pool of analysts and associates
  • Enhance our current processes and practices and make us better

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required – MBA preferred
  • 4 - 8 years of work experience in an industry with private equity exposure (investment banking, credit underwriting, management consulting, investment management)
  • 2-4 years of principal investing experience is a requirement
  • Advanced modeling and Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage his/her workload such that deadlines are consistently met
  • High degree of comfort in a dynamic and fast paced work environment
  • Possess strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
  • Analytical, quick thinker with unconventional problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent time management, project planning, and organizational skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to develop materials and effectively present to and persuade team members and the Investment Committee
  • Dynamic relationship building and partnership skills; a strong teammate
  • Must have the ability to interact with a variety of individuals (employees at all levels, clients, General Partners), along with the ability to work independently are required
