Senior Engineer, Electroplating - Hillsboro, OR - 2100415

The Senior Engineer, Electroplating will be part of the Electronic Materials team and will be based in Hillsboro, Oregon, supporting the overall success of the Global Electronic Materials business unit.

Reporting to the Lab Manager , the engineer will be responsible for managing customer projects as well as planning and leading development projects in coordination with global R&D teams for the business area of interconnect electroplating.

Formula for Success

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and document electrochemical experiments to evaluate the performance of electroplating solutions on semiconductor substrates and investigate metal film properties.
• Serve as a customer contact for product sampling and qualification. Coordinate activities between US customers and BASF global team of product managers, quality control and quality management.
• Work within multidisciplinary project teams (locally and globally) which include EH&S, Engineering, Procurement, R & D, and Logistics to provide contributions to the Hillsboro site operation. Implement EH&S rule based on the BASF guidelines.
• Accept personal responsibility to follow process safety regulations and company health and safety related directives.

Knowledge and Experience

• Master with 3+ experience or a Ph.D. in a technical field is required.
• Hands-on experience with metal electroplating technology for semiconductor manufacturing (tool supplier, chemical supplier or IC manufacturer) or related field. Working knowledge on electrochemistry and electroplating characterization techniques is required.
• Familiar with characterization tools such as SEM, elemental analysis, etc. CVS, HPLC, or polymer characterization techniques and electrochemical characterization knowledge
• Knowledge and experience in synthesizing chemical formulation is required.
• Proven ability to interface with key customer representatives in technical disciplines preferred
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate detailed and precise technical requirements, procedures, and results in written and oral format.
• Self-starter, ability to work with limited supervision to achieve targets
• Excellent communication and organization skills required
• Ability and willingness to travel, minimum 25%
