JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Analyst is an individual contributor who also works in a team environment on various activities that impact Classification for Global Trade (CGT) as well as the Company. The Senior Analyst will be able to determine accurate classification of Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTS), Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) & Country of Origin (COO) for standard and Engineered to Order (ETO) products. This position will support global Free Trade Agreement (FTA) initiatives and participate in global auditing of classification data. Through an understanding of both compliance processes and information systems, this position participates in the discussion of strategies, improvements within the department and provides training and advice to other members of CGT globally. This individual works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. They demonstrate good judgment to determine appropriate action.

SCOPE:

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to meet those goals. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:

Functional

• Thorough knowledge of the following regulations, rules and programs:
  • Harmonized Tariff Schedule on a global level in accordance with WCO rules and regulations.
  • U.S. Export Administration Regulations and the Commerce Control List as well as general knowledge of foreign export control laws
  • Global Country of Origin rules
  • Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and duty savings programs and how to determine eligibility.
• Determine global HTS codes, US ECCN and COO for all products
• Qualify products for various FTA's and other duty savings programs
• Read and interpret bills of material, engineering drawings and other technical data.
• Produce adequate backup documentation for product classification discussions and reviews
• Audit classification data for accuracy and consistency
• Write and update department procedures
• Navigate SAP/IFS systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise in day-to-day transactions
• Work one-on-one with new employees during training period to ensure analyst is progressing to the next level
• Participate in global meetings or trainings that may require attendance on off hours because of different time zones
• Works on classification projects as assigned
