Job Description The Development System Test Engineer is responsible for all aspects of product type testing of component/ assembly/systems for Medium Voltage products. In this position, you will perform testing, analysis and produce documentation required for development of new product designs and product enhancements. You will also adhere to agency testing standards for product qualification and certification, be responsible for maintaining lab accreditation under UL-CTDP guidelines, maintain/improve multiple test labs in a safe, clean, and efficient environment in accordance with lean policies. Performs intermediate hardware, firmware and software testing activities including, but not limited to test system development, test development and execution under the direction of other teams. Has responsibility for development and execution of tests within the assigned program. Has indirect supervision of test technicians/students on assigned projects. Responsible for contributing to the development of new test procedures. Focus is on delivering high quality product, in an efficient manner. Essential Functions: Functional - Leads, performs and coordinates type testing of power electronics components and products.
- Performs intermediate functional and product testing on embedded firmware-based projects at the unit, integration and functional level.
- Provides feedback regarding infrastructure engineering methodologies, standards, and leading practices.
- Contributes to the modification and creation of test procedures and associated test scripts.
- Responsible for the realization of test setups/stations for automation and functional testing.
- Executes product functional test plans and test cases from product Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and High Level Design Documents (HLDD).
- Contributes to the implementation of product and system test set-ups.
- Development of software test scripts utilizing C#, C++, Python or other common programming language for automated tests.
- Has familiarity with the functionality of a motor drive / power converter and can apply test principals relative to the functional operation of that equipment.
- Work with hardware / software / firmware developers to identify test opportunities in test applications and methods.
- Investigate product problems, with emphasis on hardware/software/firmware product support.
- Participate in appropriate support programs to assure that products continue to fill the customer's needs.
- Stay abreast of new test technology developments and applications that can be used in products through participation in technology seminars, courses, and independent study.
- Must complete design and implementation documentation as specified by the Common Development Processes and associated with the functional process requirements.
- Must keep a notebook of documented notes that thoroughly explains conceptual thoughts, conditions, restrictions, analysis, synthesis, and test results that serve as justification for test and system design.
- May assists development Design Engineer with product development issues.
- Participate in Test Setup/Jig designs (Hardware and Firmware).

- May travel as required to meet the requirements of assigned projects.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor of Engineering / Science in Computer Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering, with concentration in power electronics.
Preferred Qualifications: - Minimum of 2 years experience in Hardware/Software Testing, Firmware Development, Applications Engineering work, Technical Support, or other Testing/Quality Assurance role.
- Knowledge of hardware/software/firmware test methodologies is desired.
- Familiar with Power Electronics Hardware Design.
- Familiar with Rockwell Automation products or other industrial control equipment is considered an asset.
