The Assistant General Counsel, Lifecycle Services, will provide primary commercial legal support for Rockwell Automation's Lifecycle Services business segment. The role calls for a trusted advisor to the business who understands its strategic initiatives and provides legal support that supports growth, mitigates risk, and assures compliance. The work will focus on supporting new business models using cutting edge technology to "bring the Connected Enterprise to Life" - e.g., information solutions, connected services, IOT, SaaS, cloud, analytics, cybersecurity, ARR, and process - as well as inorganic growth, specifically mergers and acquisitions involving technology. The selected candidate will report directly to the Vice President, Commercial Law.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide proactive counsel to all levels of the business regarding commercial issues;

• Collaborate with business management to discern risk tolerance and manage risk;

• Serve as an escalation resource to the Contracts and Negotiation team;

• Support Business/Corporate Development on major transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and alliance relationships;

• Lead or provide critical support for cross-functional initiatives to enable the company's evolution into new business models that "bring the Connected Enterprise to life" - i.e., information solutions, connected services, and process;

• Train business clients on relevant legal issues;

• Work with interdisciplinary project and transaction teams, including other peers and functions within the Office of General Counsel;

• Select, retain, and manage outside counsel; manage costs and staffing; use budgets;

• Provide input into risk management and compliance activities;

• Serve as liaison - in effect, a "one-stop shop" - for the Lifecycle Services business to the functions and subject matter experts within the Office of General Counsel;

• Drive continuous improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of our Legal Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Law degree from a US accredited Law School or equivalent;

• Minimum of seven years of law firm or in-house experience; corporate in-house experience a plus, but not required;

• Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strengths in technology and M&A are preferred;

• Orientation toward business results; sufficient maturity, experience, and business acumen to become a trusted advisor to and an integral member of the Lifecycle Services management team;

• Sound legal and business judgment; ability to assess risk and balance legal and business considerations;

• Excellent communication skills;

• Experience managing and improving processes and driving continuous improvement and takes initiative to solve problems;

• Uncompromising ethics.
