Job Description

The Embedded Software Engineer participates in the firmware design and testing activities for motion control features. Work assignments include requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, and functional testing of embedded software in an Agile development process. Areas of design include Ethernet network communications, drive device configuration, fault action execution, time synchronization, and other automation controller subsystems.

This role requires strong communications skills and ability to work effectively in large project teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in real-time embedded software design using C or C++

  • General understanding of embedded control systems including multi-core processing

  • Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills using tools such as in-circuit emulators

  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic understanding of software development processes and principles.

  • General understanding of embedded control systems including multi-core processing

  • Very good command of English

  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking (TCP/IP, TLS, DTLS)

  • Experience with motion control systems and/or industrial automation products and environments

  • Experience applying object-oriented design methods using C++

  • Understanding of model design techniques such as UML

  • Experience with Continuous Integration model and tools like TeamCity or Jenkins.
