JOB SUMMARY You have a strong pre-commissioning or commissioning background relating to power or cooling equipment. Even better, you have worked on the equipment manufacturer's factory floor to ensure that equipment has been partially commissioned prior to shipping from the manufacturer/integrators. You have strong knowledge of power and/or mechanical equipment that will be ultimately installed within critical environments including large data centers. Ideally, you have direct engineering experience associated with the manufacturing of similar large building infrastructure equipment. Although you will not be the commissioning agent of record, you have enough commissioning experience to guide commissioning processes for third party commissioning agents. In this capacity, you will be an Owners Rep, therefore looking after the best interests of the Owner client that you will be assigned to represent. You are an exceptional communicator who can express complex ideas in a concise manner through all digital mediums; including design drawings, presentations, video conference both internally and with clients. You are well organized and can meet changing project priorities to make sure your team and projects stay on schedule. You have experience bridging your engineering skills between factory fabrication of equipment and the ultimate site installation of that same equipment that you observed being fabricated. Location is flexible, but extensive travel will likely be required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Oversee all factory-based pre-commissioning and pre-shipping commissioning for newly developed MEP products. Ensure conformance to design engineering performance and fit expectations.
- Support the commissioning of next-generation mechanical & electrical systems and products for critical environments and large industrial buildings.
- Contribute to new technology insertions through collaboration with the core engineering teams during new product / system development.
- Write and edit commissioning scripts to be used by manufacturers and integrators.
- Coordinate commissioning documentation for new products that will ultimately be used in building infrastructure for hyperscale data centers.
- Contribute to management of multiple external commissioning agents early levels / stages of commissioning at the factory through to delivery and operational commissioning onsite.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BEng/BArch) from College or University in a technical area of study. Minimum six years of related experience and/or training. Prior experience in a supervisory position (direct report responsibilities) required if specific duties include direct report responsibilities. Minimum Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent power and/or cooling equipment commissioning experience is required
- 8+ years of experience focused on mechanical design and construction management experience
- Experience writing and editing commissioning scripts is required.
- Familiarity and experience in working with multiple levels of suppliers, vendors and integrators for mechanical equipment
Other recommended skills and preferred qualifications include: - Prior experience as a commissioning agent for large building infrastructure (MEP systems); i.e. -- transformers, switchgear, battery back-up power, diesel-fueled back-up power generators, chillers, piping, pumps, evaporative cooling, fans, ducting, and all forms of airhandling.
- You have experience successfully performing QA/QC for building mechanical systems and infrastructure.
- Experience working with data center equipment/environments (e.g., switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems)
- Experience managing vendor relationships
- Familiarity with Google Drive and all related products (sheets, docs, slides)
- Understanding of pre-commissioning processes within a factory environment, and ultimate operational commissioning in the post-installation / post construction setting.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. Knowledge in MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices.
