What you’ll be doing... The PMTS - Verizon Cloud Platforms (VCP) Engineer - will envision, architect, plan, document, and support technology across the network organization ecosystem. This position will focus on two major areas, capacity planning and engineering solutions for the Verizon Cloud Platforms, Openstack and Kubernetes. - The capacity planning portion of the position will work with cross functional teams to utilize tenant forecasts for creating and maintaining the capacity plan of the infrastructure needs for VCP.
- The engineering solutions portion of the position will work with Planning, Lab, and Operations teams to implement new capacity, functionality, remediation’s and support of the platform.
- This will include assisting to triage platform issues, document, coordinate, and support escalations.
- Advise on troubleshooting and the triage of problem reports, resolutions, and escalations as required.
- Participate in multiple parallel large-scale projects with a high level of technical complexity that industry expertise and in-depth analysis to ensure the right path is being pursued on behalf of the business units involved.
What we’re looking for... You'll need to have: - Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have: - Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline.
- Capacity Planning experience for OpenStack.
- Capacity Planning experience for Kubernetes.
- Experience working as an Openstack administrator.
- Experience working with Kubernetes Administration.
- Experience with Redhat Linux.
- Experienced with Python/Ansible automation development /maintenance / debugging.
- Openshift deployment experience.
- Openstack deployment technologies (TripleO, MaaS, Juju) knowledge.
- Experience working with KVM, libvirt or other virtualization technology.
- Experienced Linux systems administration (prefer in Virtualized environment).
- System performance analysis experience.
- Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and firewalls.
- Experience working with solutions at scale.
- Experience working modern configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible).
- Experience with storage solutions (netapp, nfs).
- Experienced with Unix Shell Scripting (Bash)
- Experienced with GITLAB CI/CD pipelines - as developer
- Experienced with Development using modern file formats (JSON / YAML)
- Experience with networking concepts and protocols (include SDN, NFV, Nuage).
- Willingness to enhance team learning environment by providing and encouraging mentorship and technical leadership.
