| McKesson's well-regarded General Counsel Organization (GCO) is seeking an experienced government contracts attorney to join McKesson's expanding contracting business with federal, state and local customers. Primary responsibilities : - Provides legal support for McKesson's medical-surgical supply business' pursuit and performance of federal, state, and local government contracts;
- Develop close working relationship with business stakeholders to facilitate efficient and effective preparation and submission of proposals;
- Work directly with business leaders and other members of the GCO to identify and address legal risks and issues raised by contracting with the government;
- Review solicitations and advise the business on risks and appropriate responses;
- Represent McKesson in engagements with government attorneys and contracting professionals;
- Support the development and implementation of appropriate compliance controls; support training of McKesson employees;
- Serve as a legal advisor to business unit leadership on a wide array of topics relating to segment needs, including legal risk mitigation, customer management, strategic initiatives, and compliance programs; and
- Experience with state and local contracting, pay-to-play laws, commercial item contracting, Federal Supply Schedules, cybersecurity, or bid protests Experience with non-government contracting areas of federal regulation desired.
Minimum Requirements 6+ years of government contracts experience Critical Skills - Law firm experience combined with in-house experience preferred
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local government contracting rules with significant experience at the state and local level
- Excellent contracting drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to provide sound, clear legal advice within the company, including senior business executives
- Ability to adapt communication style depending on the recipient's level of sophistication about legal issues
- Comfortable working on multiple projects concurrently
- Business acumen dealing with risk management and organizational savvy
- Ability to work closely with, facilitate interactions within, and influence large cross-functional teams (including representatives from other areas of the General Counsel Organization regulatory and compliance professionals, sales professionals and operations managers)
- Must be a team player who can develop strong working relationships and work collaboratively with internal clients and other members of the legal team
