JOB SUMMARY

It is the Global Water & Waste Manager's primary responsibility to continually champion the conservation of water and reduction of waste throughout the client enterprise and within the CBRE account team, in support of the client's Sustainability at Work (SaW) program. The Water & Waste Manager acts as a global subject matter expert to assist TM, PjM & FM teams in transforming and elevating the way SaW outcomes are achieved. Specific segmented responsibilities include:

• Training - Responsible for developing and delivering global SaW training plans and coordinating with regional CBRE Integration Managers and the client's stakeholders to adjust global training curriculum as necessary to further promote water conservation and waste reduction within the client's facilities. Develop and implement training which explicitly outlines the client's waste and water objectives, raises awareness of client commitments and expectations across the enterprise, and creates a clear understanding of required support from janitorial, engineering, and technical service teams. Specifically provide training content on topics including: Single Use Plastics, Landfill Diversion, Paper, Green Building Design, and third party Waste Certifications (e.g. TRUE Zero Waste).
• Communications - Responsible for providing content to regional CBRE Integration Managers for internal client communications that will help users understand what the firm is doing, has done, and will be doing with respect to water conservation and waste reduction in specific facilities and within regions.
• Water Conservation & Waste Reduction - Responsible for identifying and driving initiatives that will support the achievement of global and regional targets for water conservation and waste reduction throughout the client portfolio. Collaborate with regional CBRE Integration Managers to implement operational sustainability initiatives including data management, water efficiency standards, and best-in-class waste and recycling processes. Engage FM teams and the global energy and sustainability platform to identify, develop, and complete water conservation and waste reduction projects. For each of these water and waste projects: Formalize the scope, obtain quotes, perform project savings analysis, and obtain project approvals.
• Data Quantity and Quality - Responsible for identifying opportunities to expand both the quantity and quality of water usage data and waste generation data across the client portfolio. Engage with FM teams and existing suppliers to drive improvements in water and waste data quality, and implement regional data tracking policies and new partnerships with waste/recycling vendors to further improve the reliability of local recycling and composting rates at the individual facility level.
• Standard Operating Procedures & Methods of Performance - Support regional CBRE Integration Managers and the client's SaW leaders as needed to develop proposals for minimum water fixture efficiency specifications for construction and renovations, and enhanced construction waste recycling procedures. Support regional engineering leaders to implement uniform facility operating procedures such as setting minimum water fixture efficiency specifications for construction and renovations, and developing construction waste recycling procedures to minimize waste and conserve water. Facilitate the implementation of on-site policies which maximize waste diversion and water conservation.
• Budgeting & Forecasting - Responsible for developing and presenting annual budgets for global water conservation and waste reduction projects, and providing monthly budget forecasts to appropriate client stakeholders. Provide data to support a global review of performance against budgets for all water and waste projects, including detailed review of relevant variance explanations. Leverage globally approved budgeting methodology in coordination with CBRE Integration Managers and FM leadership to create a site level budget for water and waste projects within each region and present for approval. Track savings (or cost increases) at the budget level to calculate and report regularly on the ROI for water and waste initiatives with the SaW program. Coordinate with CBRE FM's to obtain detailed variance explanations when required.
• Reporting - Support the CBRE Global SaW Director in presenting regional leadership with SaW status reports as required outlining progress against the water and waste components of the SaW Scorecard. Support CBRE's Regional Utility Analyst and CBRE Integration Managers as necessary to develop and present monthly sustainability status and variance reports to key internal stakeholders. Monitor and track water use and waste diversion rates and spending trends. Ensure detailed investigation of significant variances are undertaken to ensure root cause is well understood and communicated.
• Transaction Management - Responsible for developing regionally specific green leasing standards which enable SaW objectives and increase water data availability and reduce landfill waste. Coordinate with regional CBRE Integration Managers and Transaction Management teams to review 'green leasing' guidelines and ensure their meaning is fully understood by the transaction team. Provide input to ensure the inclusion of green leases clauses such as those that require landlord recycling programs, water submeters for tenant spaces, etc.
• Procurement - Support the client's sourcing teams as needed to design and continually refine a sustainable sourcing strategy. This includes vendor screening. Support the development or enhancement of sourcing programs focused on space (e.g. pantry), material types (e.g. reusable foodserviceware), and operations and maintenance (e.g. recycling, composting, and green cleaning) that will help reduce landfill waste and increase recycling rates globally

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides recommendations on staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.
