Job Description The Sr Director, Retail Data Strategy is a newly created leadership role that reports into the Vice President of Data Strategy & AI. This leadership position will play an integral role in defining the Data strategy across Retail, including merchandizing, supply chain, store operations and other areas. The strategy will need to align closely and support the wider Retail business strategy and with the overall CVS Health strategy in mind, leveraging the breadth and scope of CVS Healthâ™s wider business assets in transforming and modernizing Retail and the customer experience and be digital at scale and at speed. As Sr Director, Retail Data Strategy, you will be responsible for developing, institutionalizing and delivering the data strategy including mapping of the individual busines function strategies and objectives into data assets, tools and infrastructure that will enable automated and self-serve reporting and the full realization of data as a strategic asset in order to drive business value, insights, and growth across Retail. You will drive consensus and alignment, streamline data systems and data structures needed to enhance data-driven value creation via advanced capabilities like data science and play a leading role in the formulation, external/internal insights integration, development, communications and execution of Retailâ™s data strategy. You will partner with Data Engineering and Technology to oversee the appropriate design and will be the product owner for core, scalable solutions, platforms and processes , such as data ingestion and integration, migration of key business priorities to cloud technology that will add value through existing use cases but also open the doors for new use cases leveraging the expanded capabilities and the breadth of the wider CVS Health data ecosystem. You will work with cross-functional data leaders and their team to inform, align and integrate the cross-functional data platforms/process/reporting capabilities broadly to ensure superior experience, functional excellence and efficiencies and you will define an analytic strategy that helps scale analytic capability and provides relevant insights to drive macro-level business decisions and innovation. You will enable the execution of priority analytics use cases, define roadmaps, tracks, and prioritize work. You will provide input into the reporting strategy, features, suite of reports and be the link between business and report development. Other duties will include maintaining close relationships and fostering an open dialogue with all Business Units to understand objectives and data challenges, and identify opportunities The Sr Director, Retail Data Strategy is an analytically minded strategist who will foster a data-driven culture, a great communicator and a champion for user and customer experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES â¢ Designing and implementing data strategies and systems â¢ Define the vision, strategies, and features/functionality of the Retail Analytic and Data ecosystem â¢ Manage and deliver the data strategy, including overarching vision and prioritized portfolio of use cases using cross â“ Business data and capabilities â¢ Define and operationalize the processes and systems that identify organizational priorities for standard reporting packages and ad hoc report requests â¢ Ensure standardization in intake, triage, prioritization and quality control of all use cases â¢ Collaborate with the IT data team and the Data Engineering team as a primary stakeholder on Retailâ™s data needs, data architecture, access, MDM, etc., all in service of driving the data strategy from a business and value-creation perspective â¢ Define the tooling necessary to deliver and maintain industrial grade analytics solutions â¢ Drive adoption of data and reporting products within the functional areas to ensure value is realized â¢ Engage in regular dialogue with the Business leaders to foster conversations in order to gain an understanding of the data and analytics challenges and opportunities â¢ Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to shape business requirements for cross-functional capabilities that will continuously improve the user experience, reduce cost to serve, and increase efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery â¢ Build a highly performing modern data warehouse platform leveraging flexible capabilities for competitive advantage â¢ Identify and serve revenue generating data monetization opportunities to enable business innovation â¢ Partner closely with colleagues in Enterprise Analytics and IT to create a Vision & Roadmap and help manage data engineering and technology requirements â¢ Cross-Functional Product Ownership: Be responsible for the value proposition, roadmap development and execution of the Cross-Functional Data capabilities through matrix management of cross-functional resources. â¢ Accountability for our strategy around Data Sourcing, Data Storage/Warehouse, Data Platform, Data Integration â¢ Act as the primary liaison for various stakeholders and teams. Facilitate decision-making and approvals. Oversee major data-development efforts and decide on release date and content working with Business functions and IT â¢ Product financial run rate (operating & development)
Required Qualifications â¢ 10+ years of progressive data and analytic experience in envisioning, developing, delivering, and integrating complex data management solutions including experience with big data and cloud environments and cloud migration. â¢ Executive level consulting experience in translating business problems across disciplines into data and analytic projects with measurable business value combined with ability and experience to work closely with the individual contributors to efficiently translate plans into reality. â¢ Demonstrated experience leading internal or external funding efforts for projects based on business value and ROI. â¢ Data Management experience within the healthcare business/insurance industry, with experience deploying capabilities across a wide range of business disciplines and creating data solutions to a variety of problems. â¢ Proven experience working across multiple business areas such as Analytics, operations, finance, sales, product, and IT. â¢ Solid understanding and hands on experience with a variety of Data management and data engineering processes, including data pipeline development, aggregate/semantic data layer development, methodology development, and KPI and metrics layer development. â¢ Solid understanding and hands on experience working with large data sources, particularly administrative claims, provider, and clinical program/lab data, focusing on efficient data extraction from large databases, data manipulation, and setting up optimized summary data layers. â¢ Strong background in data management and data wrangling technologies (e.g. R Informatica, Trifacta) and experience with Hadoop technology and open source languages (Python, Spark) â¢ Strong background in developing cloud-based data engineering solutions leveraging cloud native tools and optimizing it for cloud. â¢ Proven team leadership and management experience, with ability to recruit, engage and develop staff with advanced degrees and diverse backgrounds and in different geographic locations, ability to allocate resources based on priority and skill level, strengths, and area of expertise; ability to train and mentor junior colleagues and identify and guide team leaders. â¢ Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with business partners, including executive leadership, in order to elicit business needs and formulate, propose and refine data and reporting solutions in order to meet the business needs and to drive efficiency and effectiveness improvements and business value. â¢ Excellent written and oral communication and data presentation skills, with ability to tailor the communication style to the right audience, from the data/analytic professional to the senior business leaders. â¢ Excellent project management skills with ability to lead and engage in multiple projects and initiatives and appropriately prioritize her/his own time as well as that of the direct reports.
