The Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases (NITD) is dedicated to the discovery of high-quality clinical candidates for the treatment of tropical infectious diseases. The successful candidate to this position will be accountable for design, execution, and interpretation of cellular and biochemical assays to support the discovery and pharmacological characterization of novel anti-parasitic drugs against parasites causing diseases such as malaria, trypanosomiasis and cryptosporidiosis.
* Independently interpret data from and perform routine phenotypic screening assays to support drug discovery efforts with high reliability. * Independently design, troubleshoot and implement new assays. * Execute assays efficiently through collaboration and liaising with key stakeholders. * Mentor junior research associates. * Ensure best practices in data analysis by ensuring integrity and quality of data in a timely manner. * Design and execute innovative mechanism of action studies. * Be self-driven and able to contribute significantly on hypothesis, experimental design and report writing. * Comply with Novartis standards and practices for documenting and archiving research activities. * Support scientific input for patent filing and funding applications. * Maintain compliance with local and global standards in Health/Safety & Environment.
