The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for the design of protective packaging used on variety of industrial & commercial electrical products within RA. Work within cross-functional teams to support new packaging development, resolve product/packaging QA issues and review legacy designs to support global productivity & sustainability objects.
Following RA Global Standards, Policies, Processes and Procedures, the Packaging Engineer will plan & drive new packaging designs by collecting the product parametric data, CAD models, overall project requirements and internal customer inputs/needs. Then determine the appropriate packaging design, select materials & performance tests required and final assembly methods. Work virtually (via meetings) to engage Development Teams and packaging suppliers globally to implement new packaging designs in a timely manner.
Work with New Product Development teams on packaging requirements for new products.
Translate requirements into virtual packaging design concepts to allow Global team review.
Prepare packaging prototype designs, samples, engineering drawings and cost estimates.
Evaluate and approve packaging designs thru data collection and testing.
Compile all packaging parametric data and record as required in SAP for EU or other regional regulations.
Create all required Engineering documentation and process/release thru SAP/ECC system.
Conduct follow up on all new packaging released - to ensure success in final packaging assembly.
Participate in cross functional teams to address quality/shipping concerns that relate to packaging design.
Ability to follow RA Standards, as well as global agency standards as they relate to packaging.
Develop new packaging related Policies/Procedures - to fill voids within current documentation.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop standards that improve the customer hardware experience.
