We are seeking a Director, Category Management to join our Laboratory Product Strategy team in our Richmond, VA location.
The laboratory diagnostics market continues to be dynamic, particularly in the infectious disease testing space. McKesson Medical has a portfolio exceeding $1B across many products and manufacturers. Careful management of our product strategy and supplier partnerships will further McKesson's competitive position and ability to achieve better business health for our customers and better care for all through improved laboratory diagnostics. This position is responsible for leading the development of key strategies in the infectious disease space and managing the supplier partnerships for profitable growth.
Driving product strategy focused on long-range revenue and margin growth through oversight of category management resources. Clearly communicates category strategy to senior leaders with intent of influencing and gaining agreement among key constituents. Leads team in collaboration with sales, marketing, and manufacturers to develop and execute critical initiatives to drive Laboratory sales.
Engage in negotiations with large vendors and negotiations for complex new technologies. Builds strategic relationships as appropriate and leverages relationships with all manufacturers.
Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions normally involve controversial situations, customer negotiations, or influencing and persuading other senior level managers. Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area.
12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience
3+ years' experience in category management
3+ years' experience building strategic relationships with manufacturers; leading large, complex contract negotiations
3+ years' experience leading and developing teams in prioritizing and organizing work
12+ years' experience in areas such as product management, purchasing, marketing/sales, and or finance
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Adept at solving complex problems and managing multiple projects
Financial acumen and analytics
Clinical laboratory experience is a plus, but not required
Lead across a matrix organization with the ability to communicate ideas to stakeholders and senior decision-makers
Strong interpersonal and influential skills; ability to interact at various levels of the organization
4-year degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience
Up to 25%
