Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) is part of Abbott's Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Automation Engineer within our Toxicology Business Unit located in Kansas City, MO. In this role you will help shape the future of our automation efforts, providing the quality and technical expertise that will allow us to move quickly from concept to reality. Working closely with our development teams, business owners, and DevOps Engineers, you will have a significant impact on the quality and delivery speed of our solutions, resulting in enthusiastic and satisfied clients and customers.
At our Kansas City location, we build products and processes that enable companies to conduct employment related screenings. Our software is used in over 3000 healthcare clinics and at thousands of companies throughout the country to help keep people safe at work.
As an important member of an Agile environment, you are expected to cultivate, grow, and maintain core principals including, but not limited to, continuous improvement, self-organization, adaptive planning, and value driven development, using methodologies and frameworks such as LEAN, SCRUM, and KANBAN. We are looking for a Product Owner to fulfill the strategic product direction established by the Product Management team. You will use your skills to develop a solid understanding of the business processes and project needs to provide a solution that meets the needs of multiple types of users. With input from stakeholders and product teams, you will define the requirements for the project, and work closely with development on the specifications to ensure their Agile team has all the information they need to deliver a complete product to market.
Work with the Product Manager and Agile team to define the scope included in a project
Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes
Get answers for the team to clarify details as they are developing the application
Serve as the voice of the business for the Scrum team to ensure requested features are clearly understood.
Work with the agile team to prioritize the backlog and prioritize support work as needed
Manage dependencies in and across sprints and releases
Perform demos to all stakeholders on a regular basis
Keep stakeholders apprised of progress and incorporate their feedback
Provide backlog grooming and elaboration of the user stories to help with sprint planning.
Participate with the Scrum Team on sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
Problem solve ensure best solutions are delivered.
May occasionally write formal business requirements for projects using a waterfall SDLC.
Ensure that compliance, security and regulatory requirements are met on all projects.

Typically has 2 + years of relevant experience in an Agile Product Development environment
Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Possess the ability to communicate, across all levels of organization, with diplomacy and tact, including when responding to resistance
Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles through certification/s
Should have excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
Ability to lead team and product improvement with collaboration and transparency
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Four-year degree from accredited college or university preferred
Prior drug testing, healthcare, medical device or other related industry experience preferred
Experience with TFS/Azure, or other SDLC management software preferred
Experience assessing value and prioritizing a backlog preferred
Experience with product and/or software development life cycle preferred
