The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Product Development Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Leading new polymer material designs and developing new Multilayer Optical Films to expand Display Materials and Systems Division's (DMSD's) reach into new markets and applications
Contributing to 3M's culture, intellectual property, and scientific community
Supporting product commercialization efforts and technology platform growth in applications such as Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD), Automotive, Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Health Sensing, and Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED's).
Working collaboratively with global commercialization teams, including business development and marketing teams to translate customer needs into new product technical requirements and participate in global teams to bring new products to market
Possessing a willingness to support experiments on production equipment to drive robust product commercialization
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Master's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in an Engineering or Science discipline from an accredited institution
Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master's degree or higher in Polymer Science or Materials Science from an accredited institution
Experience with web-based processing (polymer film making, coatings, drying and/or lamination)
Experience developing and commercializing new products
Optical engineering, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering experience
Understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) in terms of development and/or competitive intelligence
Leadership, networking skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
Excellent communications skills (oral, written and presentation)
Microsoft Office proficient
Travel: May include up to 15% domestic and/or international
Relocation Assistance : May be authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
