DevOps can boost overall organizational performance, and depends strongly on IT leadership for success. In this position, you’ll lead a team to build and maintain a world class DevOps Architecture and platform that enables on-demand code builds and deployments in an automated manner. You’ll not only be anticipating what needs to be in place to support future platform development and growth, but also the careers of the employees you manage. In addition you will be responsible for enabling monitoring for our hosted AWS environments, which will not only keep track our users' experience but also monitor and alert on failures.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders from a strategic perspective to identify and explore opportunities to utilize DevOps platforms and solutions to improve business processes, promote the strategic use of information technology, through self-service enablement, automation and development of meaningful dashboards and reports. You should have demonstrable experience leading agile, strategic projects as well as experience managing diverse engineering groups.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Managing and directly administering a staff of Software Engineers with overall responsibility for our DevOps platform Architecture, Builds, and Configuration/Release Management.
Platform Architecture Design - Understanding the end to end Infrastructure for DevOps and configuring highly available applications utilizing primarily a java based service oriented architecture.. Application configuration and build management will have to be architected in support of the HA environments with zero downtime solutions in mind. Platform Architecture will also require applying strategies to embrace Open source and cost effective solutions such as AWS.
Collaborate with Verizon’s security and technical teams to adhere to standards and best practices.
Monitoring solutions - Research and guide team to implement state of art monitoring solutions as part of the configuration modules. Executive dashboards and availability metrics will be expected as the end outcome of these solutions.
Drive infrastructure automation, and Infrastructure as Code practices utilizing tools such as Terraform, Packer, BOTO, and Cloud formation.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to design and implement application builds, application releases, deployment and configuration tasks.
Look for opportunities for continual improvements in infrastructure and processes.
Ensure a scalable process and infrastructure with a focus on high availability.
Ensure that infrastructure, operations, and application security standards are enforced.
Adapts to changing and evolving business priorities by offering options and constructive ideas on how to achieve the goals given the realities of time and resources.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Willingness to pitch-in and help others on the team as needed.
Provide timely estimates of on-going progress and transparency of work using tools like Jira along with daily stand-ups.
Keep abreast of technology trends and best practice with the ability to share those findings with the team.
Adhere to the standards of the team while also looking for opportunities to improve on team processes.

What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Five or more years of experience in leading DevOps practices.
Five or more years of previous people management experience in a technology function.
Good knowledge of enterprise application technology architecture, components, databases, networking, infrastructure as code, etc.
Five or more years of experience working in an Agile software development environment and working will cross functional teams.
Demonstrated aptitude and desire to learn new skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Even better if you have:
Experience working across the business to communicate infrastructure updates, downtime issues and other cross cutting issues affecting the business.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Ability to embrace change and work in an iterative development environment.
Ability to develop a deep knowledge of the commercial UAS marketplace and customer needs.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative team.
Advanced knowledge of SaaS based solutions hosted in the cloud (AWS, Google Cloud)
Knowledge of custom software, 3rd party integration program.
Experience with Containers and Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
Experienced in Transition from development stage to support and production readiness.
Strong experience in day to day production reality – availability, root cause and correlation analysis.
Experience in supporting complex environment upgrades and release deployment encompassing Application, Infrastructure and 3rd party packages (HW, OS, Middleware, Application – system to system, subsystem to subsystem)
Knowledge of configuration & release management processes.
Ability to proposed alternative approach to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Technical knowledge of Linux based platforms.
Working knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
