McKesson's CMM Pharmacy division has an opportunity in our Atlanta, GA North Druid Hills office for a Lead Software Engineer. This role will lead an Agile development team in the implementation of new application features and enhancements, while migrating legacy on-premise apps and products to cloud. Candidate must be experienced working with service-oriented architectures, including significant background with the Microsoft technology stack and development environments and cloud platforms. Candidate should have strong experience in analysis and performance improvement of high-throughput transactional systems. Needs a strong architectural and services background and ability to communicate technically and functionally, working consultatively between the technical team and the business, also between individual technical team members and Development management. Broad Application platform knowledge will be acquired to assess current system performance, identifying areas of possible improvement for code design and system architecture. This role must understand data movement through application components and be able to apply instrumentation and performance measurements to analyze and improve the behavior of applications
Implement solution and technology architecture for real time transaction processing applications for cloud that are highly available, scalable, with little to no down time.
Analyze functional and technical requirements and convert these specs into a technical design
Lead /Work closely with Agile team and Product teams in the process of creating/estimating/refining user stories while helping prioritize technical concerns (tech debt)
Design, build, deploy, test, and debug components in accordance with SDLC best practices
Break down design work into smaller technical tasks and provide estimates of effort levels and coordinate their completion through the Development cycle
Assist in the mentoring and guidance of team members
Establish Instrumentation of application components and understand application design and system infrastructure components and their interaction to offer comprehensive approaches that optimize performance
Effective communication to work with an experienced technical team and interface closely with product management (Product owner, business analyst, project management)
Understand the impacts of CPU, memory, I/O, network connectivity resources on overall transaction performance and be able to "lean out" latency and processing delays in code execution
Experience with modeling systems vs expected/predicted transactional load and volume needs and use this information as inputs into future platform sizing
Holistic knowledge of application, database, network connectivity and ability to understand performance of the product.
10+ years of experience in software development and 3+ years as a lead
B.S. degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
Strong Experience and familiarity with Agile tools and delivery methodologies
Use of integrated development and code version management, code quality tools to incorporate automation into code development, build/release processes to improve Dev cycle efficiencies
Knowledge of and experience Integrating with on-premise and web-based business rule engines
Architecture and design in a Windows/Linux .NET environment
Languages, frameworks, tools to include C#, .NET/Core, Angular, REST, WebAPI, n-tiered architectures, cloud-base app monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace, AppD, Datadog)
Participate in technology evaluations/PoCs and code/design reviews.
Creation of traditional Dev artifacts to document and managing application architecture and solution design, including Design Documents (High/Low-Level), class diagrams, sequence and collaboration and ER diagrams
Technical leadership and ability to lead a team in designs, analyze performance of existing systems, and propose new design alternatives that meet or improve on system SLAs
Integration experience with ESB, API Gateway and queueing systems
Experience in application containerization using Docker for app deployment, Kubernetes or similar for container orchestration
Database (structured/unstructured data) experience, e.g. SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, NoSQL
Helping team with any technical questions and giving them the right level of guidance
Knowledge, Usage of Code quality and security approaches to include use of code smells, security vulnerability identification/resolution, tools (e.g. Sonarqube, Veracode, Zap)
Modern development tools and practices, including Cloud platforms (GCP or Azure), Continuous Integration and Deployment/Delivery (CI/CD), security development and testing practices (DevSecOps)
Additional skills and background
Development experience with Service-oriented architectures
Cloud Certification in GCP and/or Azure
Development frameworks, including Angular or React (UI), Java/Spring
Suggest/recommend alternate development approaches which could include (as needed) non-Microsoft or open source components to improve code performance, quality, efficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Drive engineering best practices with TDD, BDD and DDD methodologies
