As our DHMO/PPO Field Dental Network Recruiter, for the state of California your goal is to implement our network strategy for increased access and discounts to expand UNUM dental networks. You will actively recruit new dentists and or providers for UNUM's dental networks to ensure the rapid expansion and growth of UNUM's dental products through the strength of our networks and service offerings. By increasing the number of dentists in our networks, this will maximize our competitive rank and therefore increase the overall value that UNUM Dental can add to existing and prospective clients' business. Targeted marketing through effective in person contact is critical for expanding our network. This role will also coordinate and support the distribution team in telling the network story and positioning the UNUM network against competitors, as requested.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit new and retain General Dentist and Specialist for our DHMO/PPO dental networks for the State of California using effective in person communication skills
Identify and prioritize target recruiting locations based on network strategy
Prioritize leads and schedule in a geographical area based on travel needs
Manage efficient recruitment trips including all materials needed to reach goals
Improve network expansion by deepening market discount while increasing utilization
Provide insight into the company and its competitive service advantage for members and providers
Partner and collaborate with the distribution team in assigned markets to increase understanding of the network and how to position the network against competitors
Negotiate contracting and reimbursement with appropriate decision maker
Submit accurate and complete Provider applications to support staff to complete credentialing
Use internal and external databases to source for new leads
Ensure all appropriate state and or internal contracting materials are sent to decision maker
Explain the potential for incremental patient volume and adjust presentations to providers based on each provider's unique concerns
Partner with Provider Relations administrative personnel to retain all recruited providers by understanding providers concerns and adjusting guidelines, fee schedules, etc. to avoid turnover
Inform senior leaders of market and environmental changes that effect network growth and retention
Assist with special recruitment projects including recruitment guarantees and commitments for new and in-force groups.
Continuously evaluate local and national market trends related to dental providers and leverage these findings to educate the Starmount Network Development team as well as the broader Unum Distribution Teams.
Analyze competitive data and provide valuable knowledge back to team
Report recruitment progress on high profile groups back to the appropriate source.
Report recruitment/retention progress on special requests.
Influence key stakeholders by understanding, addressing, and overcoming objections
Meet and exceed performance goals consistently
Lead special projects through implementation.
Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior field recruiters and/or to telephonic recruiters.
Other duties as assigned
Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years in dental industry preferred
Previous Dental Recruitment, Provider Relations, or sales experience preferred
Knowledge of PPO & DHMO reimbursement & contracting methodologies
Excellent presentation and influencing skills
Strong market research skills
Excellent time management and project management skills
Strong mentoring and coaching skills
Excellent Verbal, Written, and Negotiation Skills a must
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time
