At BASF you get more than just compensation. Our total offer includes a wide range of elements you need to be your best in every stage of your life. That’s what we call you@BASF. To give you a better overview of our total offer, we have defined four globally valid categories. Take a look at the periodic table  to find out what’s in it for you: competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, lifelong learning & development opportunities as well as a collaborative, reliable and safe work environment. Along these four categories, we constantly analyze and optimize our total offer worldwide. As a result, our employees find the right mix of global consistency and local flexibility in BASF’s total offer. This is how we ensure to be attractive as a global player and local employer at the same time.

Benefits are the rewards that go beyond the paycheck. We offer a selection of benefits that meet our employees’ needs and expectation at different life stages. Examples for benefits at BASF are retirement benefits, health care and accident insurance.

We want our employees to make the most of their talents and their job – and we offer many ways to do that including a global framework for development of all employees. We provide our employees with interesting and challenging learning opportunities. BASF is a well-known talent developer world-wide because of the broad range of challenging assignments, trainings, career patterns, and the opportunity for cross-organizational moves.

We recognize each employee’s contribution and reward it with competitive total compensation. Within our compensation systems, our employees participate in BASF’s economic and financial performance. Examples for compensation elements are base pay, performance-based variable pay programs, and different allowances.

North America is one of the most diverse markets in the world. To best reflect and serve this exciting market, we aim to be an attractive employer and to provide our customers with contacts who are used to dealing with diverse requirements. We view diversity as a clear competitive edge in the global economy.

All employees have the same opportunities at our company, regardless of their sex, nationality, educational background or cultural heritage. Diversity creates openness – to cultural and demographic changes within the company – and to the needs and wishes of our customers. It also leads to innovation. Diverse cultural backgrounds, individual perspectives, experience, ways of thinking and approaches help us solve problems faster and more creatively.

While our competitors can try to replicate our products and technologies, the aspect of BASF chemistry that is most uniquely our own is the powerful combination of our people and their ideas.

Employee Groups

Communities are important because they create a sense of belonging. At BASF, employee groups help our employees network with co-workers with similar interests and backgrounds, build knowledge and skills, and learn more about markets and customers.

Supplier Diversity

BASF is building a world-class supplier base that reflects the markets and customers we serve. Our Supplier Diversity Program is designed to promote and strengthen relationships with minority and women-owned businesses, and those with significant minority and female representation.

Work Environment

In our collaborative, caring and safe work environment, employees can perform at their best. And we know that life is more than just work. Therefore, we provide ways for employees to integrate their personal work lives. BASF’s work environment contains, among other things, modern infrastructure and communication instruments, equipment, flexible work arrangements, as well as financial stability and a long-term perspective of the employer.

Nobody wants to play the same game over and over. If you want to make a difference and create something new, you have to explore new ways. Try it out. Dare to do something. Be creative. Pioneers need a work environment that inspires. And they are characterized by something essential. Commitment.

We are committed to our employees, to give them the opportunity to fully commit themselves. We want them to stand up for their tasks and projects and boost their own suggestions. We promote the courage to turn ideas into a new reality. For example, with our best practice award, our ideas program, an event series, and the opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary projects. Since we can only find innovative solutions for the current and future requirements of our company as a team. And establish partnerships with added value.

In 2050, around nine billion people will live on this planet. On the one hand, this population growth is associated with enormous global challenges but we also see many opportunities, especially for the chemical industry. We expect the chemical industry to grow particularly strongly in the emerging economies, and that these markets will account for around 60% of global chemical production by 2020.
